Atelier Loryplatz - THE Bernese architect duo

Atelier what? Atelier Loryplatz.‍

Loryplatz? Exactly! You know Loryplatz? Nice! No, that's just our name, we're not there! But we're not far away either!

This is how the architectural duo Sandra Münger and Christian Heller, architects and designers with a passion and convinced that their profession is a wonderful way to make the world more beautiful and people happier, introduce themselves on their website. We at Fafleralp can of course only agree with this, as these two were involved in the complete renovation of the Langgletscher, which opened in 1931.

It was particularly important to them that the Langgletscher should remain recognizable as such even after the renovation, but that it should nevertheless be brought into the "new" era.
This was also achieved thanks to the visual artist Adrian Scheidegger, who has been associated with the house for years, and the dialect writer Pedro Lenz , who creates a very special atmosphere in the house with his words.

We at the Fafleralp would like to thank all those involved and are delighted to be able to present the Langgletscher to our guests in this wonderful glow.

  • Quality of management
Sustainability is consciously anchored in management. Internal structures and processes are simplified: guest orientation, employee management, internal organization, controlling, innovation.
  • Ecology - careful use of resources
The careful use of resources is important to us. That's why we pay attention to environmental compatibility and potential savings when it comes to energy, water, waste, purchasing, furnishings and surroundings.
  • Regionality - regional roots and authenticity
Our offering is authentic and has a close connection to the region and its people, culture and landscape. The added value should remain in the region and strengthen it. In this way, we create jobs, reduce transport routes and inspire enthusiasm for regional specialties and characteristics.
  • Social - maintaining the social balance
Guests and employees should feel comfortable. We make sure that the general conditions are right for everyone: Consideration of guests' wishes, fair and supportive working conditions, inclusion of suppliers, harmony with the local population with respect for the culture.
  • Finances and performance
Only an economically sound business can operate sustainably and secure jobs. That is why we focus on guest and employee satisfaction, investments, cost control and risk management.

Living sustainability for a very special vacation experience - we guarantee it!

Best regards from the Alps,
Kirsten

Hotel Fafleralp and its bird paradise

What is known to make ornithologists' hearts beat faster?
Naturally, a large number of (if possible) rare birds combined in a small area.

From around 1974 to June 11, 2024, 679 observations were reported around the Hotel Fafleralp. As a result, 71 different bird species were discovered on a quarter of a square kilometer (compared to 125 in the entire Lötschental). The acoustically unmistakable chaffinch accounts for 13 % of all reports, followed by goldfinch, siskin, blackbird and goldfinch. Of all 71 species, 15 are certain breeders, 8 are probable breeders and 37 species are possible breeders (although the information on breeding is provided without guarantee).

The Hideaway Resort Fafleralp has over 112 years of hotel tradition. The main building was built in 1908 as the first hotel on the Fafleralp. The sparse larch forest not only offers peace and quiet and a view of the Lötschental mountains, it is obviously also a real oasis of well-being for many bird species.

How do we know this? André Henzen took the trouble to gather this information.
André, we thank you very much for this.

See you soon in bird paradise!

Best regards from the Alps,
Kirsten
