Guided hiking tours
Those who like it a little more challenging are best advised to take up the offer of a guided hiking tour. With Karl Henzen, for example, you can head towards the Lötschenlücke over the Langgletscher glacier or up along the Innere Talbach towards the Tschingel or Breithorn, where the cantons of Valais and Bern meet. And a hiking tour is also worthwhile in winter, then of course with snowshoes.
discoverGuided mountain tours
Mountain tours in the UNESCO World Heritage Site are a bit more demanding and rather something for more experienced alpinists. For this we recommend the Bergcenter with its professional Lötschental mountain guides. Their fathers and grandfathers already guided guests to the wonderful Valais mountain peaks, and the next generation continues this tradition with pride and passion.
discoverGame watching
Due to the nature reserve around the Aletsch glacier and the seclusion of the Fafleralp, you will find an extremely rich alpine fauna here at just under 1800 m above sea level. It is quite possible that you will notice golden eagles or buzzards circling over the valley on your arrival, or that you will see woodpeckers, bramblings or goldcrests on your walk. Ibex, chamois and roe deer also feel at home here. On request, you can go on an excursion with the gamekeeper to observe our animal neighbours from a safe distance.
Information via telephone or at the reception.
Mushroom, herb and berry lore
On the Fafleralp you will not only find richly overgrown mats full of alpine flowers, you will also find all kinds of wild herbs, berries and mushrooms here. Whether it's morels, irritants, chanterelles or spruce boletus mushrooms, it's better to let them explain themselves. For this purpose, there are small excursions on request, during which you are not only given the best advice on herbs or wild berries, but also explained which is the edible pear milfoil and which is the poisonous birch milfoil.
Information via telephone or at the reception.
Wim Hof Weekend
We can also highly recommend a Wim Hof weekend from Jala Coaching. With the Wim Hof method you positively influence your immune system and your mental strength. The method consists of three elements: Breathing technique, cold exposure and focus exercises. Cold strengthens the cardiovascular system, reduces inflammation and depressive states. By exposing yourself to cold, you simulate stressful situations as you encounter them in your everyday life and learn how to deal with them.
discoverDog sledding
For a more unusual experience, we highly recommend a trip with Ueli and Sybille from Wuffel.ch. They offer tours with a team of polar dogs and Siberian huskies. Or even better, you can try mushing, steering, braking and anchoring a sled dog team yourself in a two-hour course. Or you can simply be picked up in Blatten in winter and enjoy a sensational ride on a dog sled up to the Fafleralp.
discoverLötschental
The magical Lötschental is a natural wonder with countless adventure possibilities: Bike tours, guided mountain tours up to the Aletsch Glacier, yoga seminars and many other partner offers with Lötschental Tourism can be found right here.
