Lötschental

When you arrive somewhere, you always have to get your bearings and find out more. Or even better: get some tips from the locals to learn about the highlights of the place. And that's exactly the kind of tips we've put together for you here - our recommendations of the house, so to speak.

Hikes

Fafleralp is a nature and hiking paradise. So it's no surprise that our first recommendation is the fantastic hiking trails on and around Fafleralp. And of course, even a long walk along the Lonza river is worth the trip.

Or you can go on a circular hike and explore Fafleralp in all its panoramic glory. Whatever you decide, you will be rewarded with a fabulous view.

Those who prefer a more challenging hike should take advantage of the guided hiking tour. Karl Henzen will take you to Lötschenlücke via the Langgletscher glacier or up the Inner Talbach valley towards Tschingelhorn or Breithorn, where the cantons of Valais and Bern meet.

A hiking tour is also worthwhile in winter, when snowshoes are of course required.

Guided mountain tours

Mountain tours in the UNESCO World Heritage Site are a bit more demanding and rather something for more experienced alpinists. For this we recommend the Bergcenter with its professional Lötschental mountain guides. Their fathers and grandfathers already guided guests to the wonderful Valais mountain peaks, and the next generation continues this tradition with pride and passion.

Bathing in the mountain lake

A hike to a mountain lake is always a special experience. And we have almost as many mountain lakes here as we do mountain peaks. One of the most beautiful mountain lakes is the Schwarzsee. It is located halfway between Blatten and Fafleralp and can be reached in half an hour.

But trips to the idyllic Grundsee, the Guggisee with its spectacular views, or the slightly higher mountain lakes Blauseeli and Anusee are also highly recommended. And if you just want to cool off briefly in summer, you will find the Faflersee lake just above the resort.
